The Jazz Orchestra had a GREAT day learning and performing at the Evanston Township High School Jazz Festival!

Congratulations to Natalie DeFord, who will continue her academic and track and field career at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA. Great job, Natalie! Keep soaring like a Redbird!

The MTHS Academic Challenge team competed today in Regionals. These students competitively test in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, Engineering Graphics, Mathematics, and Physics and match up against schools all across the state.

Metamora Township High School proudly presents their Spring Musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, to be performed in the Kenneth H. Maurer Auditorium from March 16-19, 2023, with performances starting at 7 PM on the 16-18, and 2 PM on 19th. Tickets are on sale now and are available through the online MTHS Box Office. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens 65 & older, $5 for students 8th grade & younger, and all MTHS Students with a school ID are free. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Enchanted Edition) is based upon ABC’s 1997 remake of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, starring Whitney Houston and Brandy. Cinderella, a young and kind woman, is forced into servitude after her father dies and dreams of a better life. The show includes some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?,” and more. With dazzling special effects, beautiful costumes, and more, the production is perfect for the entire family. These students (Janice Montoya, Bella Signore, and Addy Suarez) participated in the #artthrowdown2023 Thursday night and did an awesome job creating a Lady Gaga inspired wedding cake completed out of cardboard. Swipe to see the finished product! Voting opens up Friday.

Congratulations to Alyssa Bundren and Sydney Trentman for continuing their academic and athletic career next year. Alyssa will play softball at Eureka College. Sydney will play softball at Carleton College, located in Northfield, MN. Best of luck in the future.

Thank you to Mrs. Gualandri (35), Mrs. Dale (55), Ms. Stoewer (22), Mrs. Zobrist (49), Mr. Zimmerman (34), and Mr. Morrow (43) for sharing their reflective piece, "This is ___" with honors English II students. The students loved hearing life from these amazing educators before they write their work, This is 15/16.

Spanish students practiced listening comprehension of command forms in Spanish II and IV Honors while participating in Zumba, Yoga, and Stretching!

Thank you to State Senator Dr. Thomas Bennett for stopping to tour MTHS last week. Senator Bennett was blown away at all the opportunities students have at MTHS. We welcome all local, state, and national leaders to stop by MTHS and see all the remarkable things happening.

Congratulations to MTHS artists Jaliyah Pickles, Madelyn Cooksey, and Haddie Ulrich who all were honored with Honorable Mention in ceramics by the regional Scholastic Art and Writing committee. We are so proud of their hard work and creative endeavors!

After weeks of waiting, Black and White Photography students finally had a sunny day to do their cyanotypes outside on Tuesday! Welcome sun!

Students in honors English II finished their unit on author's style and purpose by analyzing two amazing pieces of nonfiction, Laura Hillenbrand's book Unbroken and Mamie Till-Mobley's book Death of Innocents. Students immersed themselves in both pieces, analyzing each author's style, tone, and lens.

The MTHS Speech Team has been enjoying a busy event season. They compete at Regionals Saturday, February 4. Go Redbirds!

The MTHS Girls' Basketball team donated their time to Midwest Foodbank. Show your support for them this evening!

Today is the last day for Penny Wars for Inclusion Week. Who will win??? The battle ends today! MTHS students have been raising money all week to support inclusion!

The MTHS preschool has openings for their ten-week laboratory preschool, which will run February 21, 2023 through May 5, 2023. The preschool laboratory is run through Metamora Township High School on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:20-9:45 a.m. with a cost of $20.00. Every Tuesday will have an altered schedule running 8:20-9:35. The MTHS high school students teach the program under the supervision of Mrs. Galpin.
