The Speech Team kicked off their season with great performances at Mahomet-Seymour over the weekend. Addison Armistead and Brianna Schroeder brought home awards for their Humorous Duet Acting and Informative Oration entries.
Final Exam Schedule. Reminders on attendance during assessment days:
-Student dismissal is at 2:25 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023, and Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
-Students needing bus transportation will wait in the commons until 3:15 PM to ride the bus home at their regularly scheduled time.
-Students who have a 1st-hour or 5th-hour study hall on Monday or Tuesday may arrive at 9:25 AM, provided they have their own transportation.
-Students who have a 4th-hour or 8th-hour study hall on Monday or Tuesday may leave at 11:55 AM, provided they have their own transportation. If students do not have their own transportation, they are required to remain in their scheduled classes.
Educators Rising learned about the wide array of opportunities in special education from today's guest speaker, WCSEA Administrator Mrs. Kristin Fehr.
Students in English II have been reading author Laura Hillenbrand's book Unbroken about war hero and Olympian Louis Zamperini. Today they discussed how Louie, Phil, and Mac fit in one life raft (6 feet by 2 feet) after their second raft was riddled with bullet holes.
Meet our next Unified Redbird spotlight student... Mr. Aiden Baker. Aiden is a senior this year at MTHS. He has ran cross country for our MTHS Running Red Cross Country team for four years! Aiden also enjoys singing and is a member of our MTHS Choral Program. Finally, you may recognize Aiden because he was our MTHS 2023 Homecoming King! Aiden is a terrific addition to our Unified program and a true friend to everyone.

Wow! Wow! Wow! The Unified Redbirds were honored to host the first annual Sensory Santa. A huge thank you to Ray Baker aka Santa, Jen Micheletti Photography, the WCSEA Parent Advisory committee for donations, and all of our amazing Unified Redbirds for executing such a special event. Educators Rising and Intro to American Education DC students got to visit the kindergarten classes at MGS and help out with some holiday-themed activities. Big thanks to Ms. Vogel, Mrs. Ott, Mrs. Camp, and Mrs. Maurer for letting us hang out with your amazing kiddos today!
Honors Spanish IV students spent the day at Lincoln Elementary in Peoria doing, crafts, reading, and speaking with 3rd graders in Spanish! Students also stopped at our own Riverview Grade School to sing Spanish Christmas carols!
Last Friday, MTHS students attended a career construction field trip put on by CAT, SkillsUSA, and local union contractors. This was an excellent day for our students.

Key Club members were making spirits bright tonight at Snyder Village in Metamora. Residents loved watching our students decorate the halls and trees🎄❄️. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
