Ron Bachman was a guidance counselor at MTHS for 35 years and was the head girls track coach from 1986 through 2017.
Known for his affable personality and his love of stories that involved horses, Coach Bachman had incredible success in track and field with the ladies at MTHS.
During the peak of the program, Metamora won ten consecutive Mid-Illini Conference titles from 2000 through 2009 and captured the school's first IHSA Sectional title in 2003.
Ron coached three individual state champions (Amanda Duvendack in the 800-meter run in both 2009 and 2010 and Gillian Urycki in the high jump in 2016) and four runners-up (Amanda Duvendack in the 800-meter run in 2008, Jill Friederich in the high jump in 1997, and Bethany McCoy in the 800-meter run in both 2003 and 2004). He also coached Savanna Klobnak, who finished in the top two of five events in the wheelchair division from 2016 through 2018.
