Chuck Leonard

Chuck Leonard

Chuck Leonard was an institution at MTHS for 56 years.  He served Metamora High School in many capacities, all of them with steadfast dedication, unrivaled professionalism, and a love of kids that made his jobs fun.  In addition to teaching for 44 years at MTHS and having generations of kids adore his methodologies and enthusiasm, he also coached four sports, ran the intramural basketball program for nearly a quarter century, and was the head football scout for a remarkable 56 years before hanging it up in 2018.

He won five conference titles and two district championships as the varsity baseball coach, serving eleven years in that role.  He also coached varsity wrestling (four years), freshman football (ten years), and freshman basketball (one year).

Chuck writes that he “was fortunate to be present at many of our football highlights over the last 50 years.  To attend his Hall of Fame induction ceremony, he missed his first scouting assignment in 50 years.

Chuck has also endowed the Chuck Leonard scholarship at MTHS, annually awarded to Metamora students who wish to pursue a degree in education.  His devotion to Metamora High School is truly legendary.
